THE RESPONSIVE GOD
Read Isaiah 59 The God of Redemption
Behold, the LORDs hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. (Isaiah 59:1 NKJV)
The religious leaders wondered how that God was not responding to them even though they have kept the law and fasted (Isaiah 58:1-3). God saw their hypocrisy. They were living in their transgression, exploiting their laborers. Their fasting and sacrifices were outward. God is calling them to cease what they were doing in an effort to get Him speak. It wasnt Gods problem but theirs. A reminder of ways we hidden our expectations of Gods response are sins (Isaiah 59:2; Psalms 66:18) double minded (James 1:6-17)
Gods hand is all powerful with all the resources available. His hand in creation, Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. (Jeremiah 32:17) in redemption, Why, when I came, was there no man? Why, when I called, was there none to answer? Is My hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Indeed with My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness; Their fish stink because there is no water, And die of thirst. (Isaiah 50:2) My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait upon Me, And on My arm they will trust. (Isaiah 51:5) The Lord has made bare His holy arm In the eyes of all the nations; And all the ends of the earth shall see The salvation of our God. (Isaiah 52:10)
Gods ear is able to hear our voices for He created us to have fellowship with Him. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. (Psalms 91:14-15) He is never tired of listening to us. He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see? (Psalms 94:9) Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. (I John 5:14-15)
Prayer: Lord You are all powerful and no one can hold back what Your hand does. You have stood where we are ready to hear when we pray. I can walk in confidence and act the same knowing You are ever listening to our prayer.
