REGARDLESS OF AGE
Read Isaiah 46 Gods Promise of Deliverance for Israel
Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you. (Isaiah 46:4 NKJV)
How do we view old age? With God the aged is as precious and mightily used. Consider Abraham at 90 was given the promise of a son, Moses was called when he was eighty, Caleb asked for the mountain at 85; greatest revelations were given and written by Daniel, John of Patmos at old age. Michelangelo was still drawing, painting and scripting into 89 years of age
Here, in contrast to the Babylons gods who are carried by the people; God of Israel carries His people. God will carry those belonging to Him regardless of their age. God will not cast them off now even though they are in Babylonians captivity. He will not fail them when their strength failed.
A man had a dream that he saw two sets of footprints on the sand. As he moves further, he noted only one set. He asked Lord where are you as he thought what left behind was his footprints. The reply from the Lord, I am carrying you. We see many nursing homes for the aged. Some of these men and women are without next of kin, left alone, no one visit them and they pass on.
God has made them and owns his interest in them, and therefore He will bear them, will bear with their infirmities, and bear them up under their afflictions. The reason is that we are God's creation just like a mother would carry his baby under her arm. We are twice His! At creation and redemption.
God will deliver them as He had done so when they were in bondage in Egypt. The promise that He will carry us and thus deliver us give us confidence in the midst of trails.
Prayer: Lord it's not me that defend, guard or carry myself as I aged. Its You who would do it for me. For as You have created me, began the work within me; You will also finish what You have begun in me. May this be my confidence to excel even more where You would have led me.
