Read Isaiah 7-9 The Prophecies of the Coming Messiah

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6 NKJV)

Ahaz was threatened of Israel with Syria attacking Judah. He was looking up to Egypt egotistical help. But Isaiah suggested Ahaz to ask God for a sign at the time Judah was going through crisis. God gave the sign of the birth of a child,

It's a prophesy of Christ's birth even 700 years before His birth. Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14) And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins. So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, God with us. (Matthew 1:21-23).

A Son given, a fulfilment as we read, For God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son. (John 3:16). And the government upon His shoulder in many ways are both ultimately and right now. Ultimately as fulfilled in the Millennium, when Jesus Christ will rule the earth And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4). For now His government is working miraculously in the life of those who acknowledge Him as Lord, in transformation and faithful serving.

Various names of Christ are given, He is called Wonderful, as who He is and what He has done is all good, and perfect that fill us with wonder. Counsellor whom we consult through His Word, receive His guidance and comfort through the Holy Spirit. He is the Mighty God with all the attribute of God as Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscience. Also addressed as the Everlasting Father, as begotten, of the same status and without beginnings and ending, He is the Prince of Peace, who makes peace between God and man.

Prayer: Lord You rule. As I submit to Your reign, I stand amaze in wonder of Your Counsel recognising You are the Almighty One and the Everlasting Father whom I relate to. I will not let things rob me of my peace because You are my peace. I will listen to Your counsel and not be a barrier to the peace You have meant for me.
