VISION FOR LIFE
Read Proverbs 29 Guidance through Discipline
When there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but the one who keeps the law, blessed is he! (Proverbs 29:18)
Vision refers to a divine revelation, a word from God as divine guidance. Where there is ignorance or rejection of Gods guidance, crime and sin run rampant.
It was like in the time of Judges, people did whatever is right in their own eyes and there was no restraint to evil and wicked deeds. The word from the LORD was rare in those days; revelatory visions were infrequent." (1Samuel 3:1). Amos, "Be certain of this, the time is coming, says the sovereign LORD, "When I will send a famine through the land - not a shortage of food or water but an end to divine revelation (Amos 8:11)
Now we have the Word. Jesus is the Word. "Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father." (John. 1:14) He is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 8:42). We receive the vision again by keeping our eyes on Jesus.
Cherry was anxious as she was in the midst of a storm while wandering an elderly couple remaining calm. They were looking beyond the horizon. The same we exercise restrain as we look beyond the present trials, temptations, and focus on Christ as our vision.
When one has the revelation of the Lord it will result in a revelation of the message, personal transformation and even the needs of the lost. Like Paul after his encounter with Christ, he testified "not disobedience to his vision" compare to prior his conversion; he was proud and of himself.
It is obedience, as doer of the word that make us blessed, "But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourselves." (James 1:22) Guard that we preach the whole counsel of God and live whatever God has revealed to us.
Prayer: Lord, seeing You overcome restless I felt. I pause in Your presence till I have You as my revelation.
