Read Psalm 90 Living for Life Beyond

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands. (Psalms 90:17 NKJV)

This is a prayer of Moses with reference to the time of rebellion in unbelief at Kadesh Barnea (Numbers 13-14). Moses must have recalled many deaths through the wilderness except Joshua and Caleb survived to enter the Promised Land. He certainly understood death and grief as this Psalm is structured.

He recognizes God sovereignty over death (:1-4). God is eternal while man turns to dust and generation passes on.

He realizes the brevity of life (:5-6) as it is likened to dreams that disappear or grass that springs u in the morning and withered by evening.

He thus reflects with wisdom by numbering our days so as to live right (:12) Those above twenty of age would perish in the wilderness before they could enter the Promised Land. He exhorted the people to act wisely in considering the days they have and thus that God would establish the works of their hands.

He is able to rejoice with Gods steadfast love (:14-15)

Finally, receiving Gods grace while living. He sought Gods for approval to establish the works of his hands.

Prayer: Lord knowing our days are short in comparison to eternity we seek Your wisdom and beauty how we should live to have You establish our works.
