Read Psalm 84 Gods Living Presence

How lovely is Your dwelling place (tabernacle), LORD Almighty (O LORD of hosts)! (:1) My soul yearns(longs), yes, even faints, For the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God." (PSALM 84:1-2)

A Psalm for the sons of Korah showing a passion for God in His house. This was sung on a pilgrimage to the house of God. Perhaps on the return after the Babylons captivity.

The Psalmist expression of his soul longing for the house of God. His longing to dwell in Gods court, "... a day in Your courts is far better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. (:10). Living a luxurious life in the fancy tents of wickedness means nothing to him; he would rather humbly serve in Gods house.

He expresses the satisfaction in the House of God (:3-4) for even the sparrow has found a home and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young. The sparrow, a picture of small insignificance and the swallow a picture of restlessness can find their place in the House of God, near Gods altar; how much more for us more valuable than they are find the blessedness of dwelling in God's presence.

He finds strength. His heart is set on pilgrimage (;5-7) that gives him strength. How much now for us knowing we are His dwelling place to abide in that presence of God, God has a journey set for us; we are not earth bound but passing by. The man who finds his strength in God does not rely on self or the world for strength, but considers Himself a visitor, a traveller, a pilgrim in this world. His true strength and treasure are in the world to come.

He concludes with the surpassing greatness of Gods dwelling, For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts. Blessed is the man who trusts in You! (Psalms
