Read Psalms 3 Trusting God for Protection

But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. (Psalms 3:3 NKJV)

This Psalms of David was penned at the time when his countenance was down. He was fleeing from his son, Absalom. Absalom had turned against him with host of Davids men (II Samuel15-17). He was compassed with foes, once he loved. They charged him as being abandoned of God. He was in great distress as he would think of being forsaken by God that others allegedly hurled at him. He felt it might be his past sins that causes him this stage. Here he wrote of his peril (Psalms 3:1-2), plead (Psalms 3;3-4) and peace (Psalms 3:5-7)

At such a time, grieved and in danger; he confessed God as his shield. The shield is the only protection when the enemy is so close or when arrows are shot at us. Are there oppositions we faced? The shield stands between us and the enemys attack, above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

David confessed God as his glory even if his crown is taken. David attributed only to God. Nebuchadnezzar, Sennacherib, Herod and many others glorify themselves but were brought down. But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, says the LORD.

David sees God is the Lifter up of his head, enabling him to rise above his troubles even to smile upon them. For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God....For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Prayer: Lord You took our rejection to restore us Your Glory. We thus walk confidently with our heads held high.
