Read 1 Samuel 29 30 David strengthened himself

Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. (I Samuel 30:6)

Have you experienced a backlash? While serving his people David did. In an attempt to escape King Saul; David went over to join the Philistines. Achish trusted and accepted him but not the other leaders of the Philistines. They knew he was serving King Saul in the past. He therefore had to leave them.

David and his men returned to Ziklag and found the Amalekites had raided, burned and taken captive their loves ones. David and the men who were with him wept loudly until they could weep no more. The men took their grievances at David wanting to stone him. Out of his anguish, he strengthened himself in the Lord. As in psalm, Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. (Psalms 42:11)

David remembered how he wrestled with the bear, lion and killed Goliath. How God had delivered him many times from King Saul and the Philistines. The time of worship and psalms he wrote were reminder of God's power and love.

David relied upon God. He sought the Lord as to his success against the Amalekites. As such he strengthens himself and move on to fulfil God's plan.

David recovered whatever was lost and returned to rejoice with his men as well as to share the plunder they have gotten with the leaders.

Prayer: Father God, in my weakness, failures and disappointment I will always look to You as my Strength and Fortress. My Provider and Protection. I will recall the days of Your deliverance, continue to rely upon You. Guide and instruct me how I should move on to fulfil Your plan for such an opportune time as this. I will reach out to do whatever You enable me. You will never fail me.
