But Ruth said: Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. Ruth chose not to leave Naomi. She refused Naomi persistence proposal. She insisted to follow Naomi. This was a choice out of her conviction. The relationship between them is a picture of dedication and honour for today's daughter in law and mother-in-law to emulate.

Ruths confession of her five decisions. First, to go where she goes. Thats to Judah and she would face hostility as a Moabite. Its a step of faith in face of possible rejection and humiliation. She was determined to abide with Naomi in the same country, cottage and neighbourhood.

She would identify with Naomis people. A people who have a covenantal relationship with God. She must have seen their culture and faith through Naomis life and practises.

She chooses to worship the same God; not Chemosh, nor Baalpeor, nor other gods of the Moabites, but Jehovah, the God of Naomi, and of the people of Israel. Through this conversion; whose religion, laws, and customs she should readily comply with.

Finally, o lifelong commitment that she would do till her death and be laid in the same grave, in hope of rising together at the resurrection of the just. She made this her solemn vow before God.

This exemplary commitment shows when we make our decision to follow the Lord. Just as the disciples were asked would you also leave me? The response was where shall we go when you have the word of eternal life?

Prayer: Father God, Your love has drawn me to Yourself. Holy Spirit guide me the way I should go and empower me to obey, through abiding in Christ, fellowship with the saints and worshipful life. To this end that I may be a role model towards those around me that they might follow You and be as I am in following You.
