YOU ARE REMEMBERED
Read Judges 16 Samsons latter end
Then Samson called to the LORD, saying, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray! Strengthen me, I pray, just this once, O God, that I may with one blow take vengeance on the Philistines for my two eyes! (Judges 16:28)
Samson was set apart at birth with a Nazarene vow. His hair was to remain and not cut. He lost his strength when his hair was cut while asleep in Delilah's lap. The Spirit of the Lord left him without been aware of it himself. It came gradually through his disobedience. He was taken captive. While tortured and in prison his hair grew. This time he was taken out blinded and led by a lad to make sport for the enemy.
Samson prayed, first that God would remember him. God could never forget him rather he needed to make this confession of faith once again. He addressed God as the Master, the covenant keeping God of Israel and the Strong One. It definitely suggests that during the lonely hours of darkness in his cell Samson must have repented and rededicated himself to the Lord. Samson's prayer was a renewal of his relationship with God. It was God who drew Samson to Himself before Samson could once again be instrument of God for His people. He was reminded of his calling as a judge of Israel.
Second, that God would strengthen him. His strength did not come with his hair, but from the Lord through his obedience to the Nazarene wow.
Third, that God would enable him to take vengeance of Gods enemies. It was a holy zeal for the glory of God and Israel as well as his personal injury. A judge of Israel, whose office it was to be a revenger, to execute wrath. Though he mentioned only his eyes, he had also suffered the loss of every dignity as a public person.
Consider how we are remembered by God? Its the awareness of been known and remembered of God that will strengthen our faith.
Prayer: Father God, do remember me the day of my youth, the passion of reaching the lost. Once more that I might be revitalised to serve You in the power and might of Your Holy Spirit.
