Read Joshua 1:1-9 The Charge to Joshua

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? (Joshua 1:8)

Moses had handed the leadership over to Joshua. The latter is now to lead the people into the Promised Land. How can he succeed in leading the people to the Promised Land? The strategy is God given.

We begin with declaration. this Book of the Law is the word of God. The command is given to constantly speak of it, teach it and proclaim it. How often the Israelites have confessed words of their own mind and under stress that grieved the Lord. Confess the word of God, Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21) Satan seeks to accuse us so that we agreed and speak down of ourselves. Joshua would have to speak life and give hope to the people with what Gods instruction and commands.

We continue with dwelling in the word through contemplation and reflecting in mind and spirit. For we act from what we think. Sow a thought, reap a behaviour that leads to habit and forms one's character. Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. (Psalms 119:11) The Psalmist constantly exhort us to meditate (see Psalms 1:2; 77:12; 119:15, 97, 148; 143:5)

We become doers of the word. Though there are many things that call for our attention and we are attempting to stay organized even not considering new things that would come our ways. Only what God said is what's needed to be done. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (James 1:22)

While we declare, dwell and do according to the word of God; God destines is to prosper and successful in fulfilling His commands; Joshua would accomplish what God had promised Israel. Making right decision, having Gods blessing But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. Prayer: Father God, I seek to recall Your written words by dwelling and confessing it. I see You are the Word and my meditation is upon You. Success will come to me as I observe and be doer of Your word.
