THE ROOF ABOVE
Read Exodus The Tabernacle Completed
Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. (Exodus 40:34)
When we just moved into our new house we asked What we hope this place to be like? It is to have the sense of Gods presence. What makes a difference in the atmosphere depends on who dwell within. It can be one of love and peace or strife and conflict.
Moses was commanded to construct and erect the tabernacle. And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it. (Exodus 25:8-9) The tabernacle was thus constructed according to Gods instruction.
Significantly the tabernacle is a type of Christ. The pattern, the furniture, and the rites all point to Christ, But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. (Hebrews 9:11)
Upon completion; Gods presence filled it. It takes preparation to facilitate Gods visitation. Thats what Moses did. The cloud is a sign of the tangible and manifested presence of the LORD in the tabernacle. The place was filled with His Glory. It was God's stamp of approval and pleasure of dwelling among them.
Whats like to experience the glory of the Lord? Certainly no one has the experience of His full glory and live. But a glimpse. When the glory came; Moses could not enter. His visitation of glory brings certain effects. It purifies, And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by My glory. (Exodus 29:43) From this abiding presence comes the guiding presence as He would lead them.
Now Jesus is the manifest presence of God, And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) As the body of Christ, we are the tabernacle of God. Christ tabernacled among us. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? (I Corinthians 6:19)
Prayer: Father God, the veil of the temple is torn when Jesus died for me. Your glory now fills the universe. Wherever I am I can experience Your presence. Holy Spirit You dwell within me giving me the awareness of Your presence.
