Read Exodus12 The Passover

Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:13)

Recalled I drove into the Parliament area in Malaysia as I did not know how to read the sign. I was immediately stopped but the kind officer let me make a U turn without a fine. Theres another no entry sign which is not possible to be entered into as we read in Exodus. It is the blood.

Nine plagues had already taken place but Pharaoh's heart was just as hardened. This would be the last one when God was going to strike on all firstborn of the Egyptians. "And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it." (Exodus 7:5) ""...that you will know that I, the LORD ... (Exodus 8:22; 9:14, 29; 10:2; 14:18)

The Israelites were instructed how to avoid this destructive plague. Each household was to have a one-year-old male lamb without blemish. They would slay it at twilight and paint the door posts with some of its blood. The meat roasted with bitter herbs. They would eat it with bread without yeast. Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. (1Corinthians 5:7) They have to eat it in haste within the house, fully attired for immediate journey. The circumcised were permitted to participate regardless if they were slaves, foreigners or Jews.

The shed blood sprinkled was an act of faith. The blood was a sign that death had taken place in this particular house. No more death is required of that household. Once the death angels see the blood; they are satisfied and will pass over it. Those who remained inside the house would all be safe as no harm will come upon them. This was the final straw that Pharaoh had to acknowledge that God was their Deliverer.

This has become a Jewish feast of Passover celebrated annually ever since. It speaks of Christ as the Passover. Christ is the firstborn and His life was taken on our behalf through the shedding of blood. It's Christ precious blood that averted the judgement. Remaining in the house is like abiding in Christ keeps us shielded. All may participate in the meal is a picture of salvation for all who believed.

Prayer: Father God, You have given me Your only Begotten Son, the Lamb that was slain and His blood shed for my redemption. I am Your possession and no death angel can take me as I am under the blood. There is life and power in Your blood. By which I am set free and I plead the blood of Christ over my family and loved ones for protection.
