NAMELESS THAT ENCOMPASSES ALL
Read Exodus 3 The Call of Moses
God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." This is what you are to say to the Israelites: "I AM has sent me to you." (Exodus 3:14)
Each of us has been given a name by our parents at our birth. It is often attached to some positive connotations like health, wealth or relationship with man and God. But there is one whose name is, I AM WHO I AM. God told Moses this is His name.
Theres no specific name in it. It is a self-proclamation of one who is divine in existence. In Gospel of John, I Am of Jesus was recorded seven times.
Pharaoh fearing the multiplication of the Israelites, instructed the drowning of all Hebrew male babies. However, Mosess life was preserved by his mother's ingenuous plan. He returned to Pharaoh's Court after being nurtured as the queen's adopted son. He killed an Egyptian taskmaster who was hitting one of the Hebrew slaves. Subsequently in trying to settle a dispute between two Israelites; his offense was exposed. Pharaoh demanded his execution. He fled for his life to Midian. There he got married. While tending the flock at Sinai, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. The Lord had heard of the oppression of His people in Egypt is now sending him to Pharaoh to lead them out of Egypt.
Moses wasn't ready. He made five excuses. Yet God reasoned with him each time. (1) Who am I to appear before Pharaoh... to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt? He felt insignificant, God show its not him but God who sent you. (2) "What is the name ...? God replied to Moses, I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you. "This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations." (:15) (3) the people won't believe (4:1) he focused on the external circumstances but God gave him the signs that will follow (4) "I have never been eloquent...slow of speech (4:10) He felt Incompetent. God responded by question as to who make mans mouth (5) sent someone else (4:13). Moses shows his reluctance yet God still uses Him as His representative (Exodus 4:1-17)
Have I come to a place I am making excuses? Am I aware its God who send me and that I don't have to go in my own accord? Affirm the call and be empowered to a new role.
Prayer: Father God, You are the great I Am that I Am. You are the ever and always knowing, present and all-powerful God. In face of difficulties may I acknowledge You are the One who is present and fully in control. Where You sent me and what You have entrusted to do is done in the power of Your Name.
