Read Hebrews 10 Christs all sufficient Sacrifice

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJV)

The author having mentioned of Christ as all sufficient and efficacy sacrifice now turn to the audience to encourage them in facing their trials. Three duties or privileges Let us draw near with boldness (:22) hold fast to the confession of our hope (:23) and here to spur one another to love and good work

He speaks of a mutual activity, not one where leaders direct the rest as to what they are to do. It involves some contemplation and reflection of those whom the Lord would have us to encourage.

The objective is to provoke, a striking term meaning incitement to love and good works. Loving one another will not just happen. It has to be intentional. We do so by our posture, words and acts of kindness expressing love (I Corinthians 13:4-7). What we are and do will influence and motivate others as well. Love will result in good works.

Discouragement made them avoid community at the very time they needed it most. Some only go to church if they feel they need it at the time. But our motivation for fellowship is out of obedience towards God. When we gather there are mutual blessing, serving and support. Schism brings separation. Forsaking fellowship leads to lose of accountability and causes one to drift into discouragement.

We cannot be judgemental, legalistic when seeking to exhort another. The goal is pointing to Christ not just sweet words but faith building relationships and help in the growth and transformation of the other party. Col. 3:16. We exercise understanding, and grace-oriented. We seek to edify one another even though we may face vulnerability. This is more vital as in the last day with Jesus return draws nearer,

Prayer: Lord, we are called to be members of Your body. We need each other. How blessed my fellow believers be will also be my blessing. I will seek to be present with them as much as possible whenever they meet. I do so with the intention to stir up to love and good works more so for such a time as this.
