Read Romans 3 The Need for Salvation

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (:23) being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (Romans 3:23-24 NKJV)

Four ways sin is described in scripture: (1) Missing the mark. God sets the standard to love Him with all our hearts and neighbours as ourselves. But all mankind has fallen short of the standard. (2) Breaking the boundary. God gave the Ten Commandments. He set these ten demarcations but men have broken everyone of it. (3) Whatever is not done of faith is sin (4) Lawlessness (1John 3:4; 2Timothy 3:1-3) The middle letter of Sin is I. It's centre on us and thus men live for the self. All these rooted in I, lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life (1John)

Sin is both outward and inward. In writing to the Romans, Paul begins with a description of man's sinfulness before God. The idolatry where they made images and worship as their gods, the immorality when they practised sexual relationship with same gender, the indifferent by knowing God's judgment but continued practising it and their indulgence when they seek to promote the wickedness as well as encouraging others doing the same. Christ extend to imagine and thinking like inordinate desire, illicit thought even without acts are sins. Anger and hatred is as much sin as murder. How we react to the injustice and hurt. How critical and judgmental of others too are fallen short of God's standards. We are slaves to sin. Dead in sin and trespasses. It includes the consequences of sin not only now but in eternality. What's the way out?

The Jews seek to boast in their law and circumcision but Paul wrote of their outward failure in keeping the law and thus they are equally judged as uncircumcised.

All have fallen short of the righteousness of God which is His glory. God's absolute holiness and justice. There is no way by works or doing the law that one can be justified. The only way is through the redemption work of Christ and this is our justification by His grace.

Prayer: Lord, You came as the Glory of the Father God. I am only righteous in You thus living in that glory. Lord each time I think of the gift of eternal life I think of how you see sin and yet You are the remedy.
