Read Matthew 5 The Beatitudes

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. (Matthew 5:8 NKJV)

One of the cosmonauts returned to earth. He had orbited around the globe. He returned to inform that he didn't see God while in space. Perhaps its not so much of the sight but the heart.

The heart is most significant part of our life, Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23) Jesus reproof the Pharisees for their hypocrisy, Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. (Matthew 12:34) What comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart . . . For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a man (Matthew 15:18-19).

A pure heart is a heart that has nothing to do with falsehood. It is truthful and free from deceitfulness. He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. (Psalms 24:4) Deceit is what we do when we will two things. It is doing one thing and will that people think we are doing another. James called it double-mindedness. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:8) It is idolatry, friendship with the world and yet claim to love God.

Seeing God means to be admitted to His presence being awestruck by His glory and comforted by His grace. How significant to have a pure heart. Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place?

We are therefore exhorted to, Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14)

Prayer: Lord, You create in me a clean heart. A heart that follows hard after You. Purify my heart through Your Spirit. That the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight. I repent of any deceitful acts both in words and actions.
