THE GREATER GLORY
Read Haggai 2 Addressing the shattered expectation
For thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Once more I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the LORD of hosts. The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,' says the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former, says the LORD of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the LORD of hosts. (Haggai 2:6-9 NKJV)
While in the rebuilding of the temple the different reactions among the young and the old. The old wept as they knew what the old was far more glorious in comparison. However, God spoke through Haggai of the future temple referring to millennium kingdom here. It speaks of Gods attribute so as to encourage them to continue to its completion.
Gods power will cause the shaking of the heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and all nations,
Gods presence will fill the temple and that is His glory. Moses' tabernacle and Solomon's temple were filled with glory when God came in a cloud and took possession of them but this greater glory is the personal presence of the Messiah. This glory shall be far greater.
Gods provision as all the silver, gold belongs to Him. They didnt need to be discouraged if they didnt have money for the building project. They had to boldly trust the God who owned every resource, and then give generously.
Gods peace is perfect peace. Christ himself the Prince of peace, is our peace.
Prayer: Lord whatever project You have entrusted me will be accomplished because You are the Provider. It is my desire that Your glory be evidence in it and Your peace that will rule my heart and mind in my service. Given by Your power and grace, I shall see the latter glory is greater than the formal.
