Read Jeremiah 18 The Shaped Pot

And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. (Jeremiah 18:4 NKJV)

God instructs Jeremiah through a living lesson by visiting a pottery workshop. He sees the potter moulding and forming a vessel out of the clay.

Its an analogy of God the Creator forming us into a vessel. Clay is from the earth so are we formed from the earth. As the clay is totally dependent on the potter. We are dependence upon Him for everything. You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth. (Psalms 104:29-30).

Watching the potter at work, Jeremiah notices a lump of clay that is stained. There are impediments. It could be dirt or some gravel or small stones been incorporated with the mass of clay. These make the pottery out of shape. It does not fit the purpose the potter first intended.

The potter is obliged to knead up the clay afresh; the potter does not quit. He continues to work on it until its completion with perfection. He does as it seems good to him. It is shaped to serve as he pleases, and as his judgment in his art directs him.

God has His best for us. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29). being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; (Philippians 1:6)

Prayer: Lord, You are the Potter and I am the clay. I know You have the best use of me and I yield to your moulding. You do not withhold anything thats good for me pertaining to Christ likeness. You withhold and remove what I would have put my confidence in and take pride of myself.
