THE GREAT EXCHANGED
Read Isaiah 53 The Ultimate Sacrifice
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5 NKJV)
I was disheartened when the seniors laughed and mocked at me while I was sharing the gospel to the students. I went to the school garden and sat there discouraged. I asked God why does He allows it when I was sharing His word. Turning to the Bible looking for comfort came Isaiah 53. The tears of disappointment turned to such joy and appreciation of what He went through to save me. Here a spoken prophetically of the suffering and substitutionary death of Christ.
We have transgressed the law even if it's one sin it affects the whole law, For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. (James 2:10). Christ took the wounds for our transgression so as to bring us justification.
Christ being the substitute recipient of Gods wrath on our behalf over our sins whether outwardly or inwardly, He took the bruises we deserved for our evil thoughts, malicious motives, jealousy, lusts and wickedness of hearts.
Christ was chastened for our peace, shalom which is more than objective or subjective but wholeness and fullness all round. He settled an enmity, between God and man he made peace by the blood of His cross (Colossians 1:20).
His back was ploughed with the Romans wit, nine tailed for our healing first of the soul and then the body. who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed. (I Peter 2:24)
Prayer: Lord with gratitude I take the exchange You did for my behalf. You took the punishment of my sin and my restlessness as well my infirmities and diseases of the soul and body. Now I can live with the peace and wholeness You have given me.
