Read Psalm 126 Joyful Return to Zion

Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him. (Psalms 126:5-6 NKJV)

The Jews had gone into captivity and now they were returning to their home land with great joy. This was written when they were accenting the hill of Jerusalem to the temple. It was a Psalm of restoration. They worked toward the restoration of the temple and their relationship with God. It was a time of weeping in repentance and sowing in righteousness, Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you. (

James gave the allegory of the farmer who sow and planted. They must wait patiently for in due time they shall reap the fruit. It may be applied to the state and condition of saints in common in this life. There is the sowing time.

A custodian at the church where the late Rev. Robert Murray MCheyne pastored often told visitors when they asked of the secret to his effective ministry that he preaches at the edge of eternity. He would direct them to where MCheyne;s studies area is as nothing much has changed. The enquirer is asked to seat, with elbow on the desk, and face in the hand and now weep for your flock, for your community and your world. Many of us know what is sowing in tears and looking back the joy that comes with it.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matthew 5:4) And they that sow, in the tears of godly sorrow, to the Spirit, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting; and that will be a joyful harvest indeed. Remember that God is not mocked; for whatever a man soweth that shall he reap, (Galatians 6:7-9). Our salvation, sanctification, and service have reap the fruit of eternal life, fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and fruit of righteousness (2Cor.inthians 9:10-11) respectively.

We are able to sow because God provides the means. We sow into lives and in ministry. Some may not reap in his life time but others do. God gives the increase (1Corinthians 3:6-7)

Prayer: Lord, whatever I am doing in investing my life and time in this ministry will one day see the fruit of my labour. I do ask more than the Organization but my personal life be restored in intimacy with You.
