FORGIVEN AND FORGOTTEN
Read Psalm 103 Blessing the Lord
For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. (Psalms 103:11-12 NKJV)
The psalmist, David wrote this with Psalm 103 late in his life. Unlike Psalm 104 this was not a worship directed to God as much as to himself about God. He was speaking to his own soul to every fiber of his being in focus of who God is and what He has done.
First, he called his soul to worship and give praise to bless God for all the benefits, the healing of his emotion and forgiveness of his sins. This comes as he remembered the Exodus, the sins he committed and how God revealed Himself through His acts to bring the people to Himself.
Second, he stressed the extend of Gods mercy. Its the greatest distance known, or can be conceived of; the space between the heaven and the earth is seemingly almost infinite; and nothing can more illustrate the mercy of God, which reaches to the heavens. Its so abundant and superabundant is Gods mercy over them that "fear" him. It is descriptive of the persons that partake of it; on whom it has such an effect, as to cause them to fear the Lord, and his goodness.
Third, God has removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west, the distance is boundless and infinite and with God's forgiveness.
Prayer: Lord, how great is Your love and mercy towards me! You have removed erased my sin and never be remembered, removed and never returned in limitless distance.
