DELIGHT TO DESIRE
Read Psalm 37 Trusting God to Act
Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psalms 37:4 NKJV)
How delighted are we each day as we wake up? Is there any lack? Yes may not have the immediate gratification of the flesh or our wants met but in course of time and present provision for the day there is no lack. Just as a kid who has many toys and yet wishes to have new ones may not dawn on him whatever he needs is being provided by the father for a long time. He can see it and appreciate it or murmur and be dissatisfied.
Taking delight in the Lord is where our true satisfaction is. God has provided us all things and power necessarily pertain to holiness and glorification through Christ. We have His Holy Spirit, His Righteousness and most sure the assurance of His attributes like the perfections of God, power, goodness, faithfulness, wisdom, love, grace, and mercy provided for us. His works of creation, providence, and redemption; His truths and ordinances of it; His house, and the worship of it; are the delight of the psalmist. Each of these brings delight and pleasure, when we contemplate, and meditate upon it.
It changes our initial mindset as well. It changes our desire to God's desire. This delight is evidenced when we have a desire that is in line with the Word of God, Truth always triumph over desire.
Act appropriately towards the wicked (do not fret, be angry, frustrated and envy)
Believe God who will vindicate on our behalf and works all things for our good
Commit Him our future. Wait patiently and confidently.
Do what is right (Show godliness, compassion and generosity. Speak wise words and promote justice)
We will receive the desire of our hearts according to the will of God. We love to do what we ought to do and hate what we should not do spontaneously and supernaturally happened. Our feet will not slip always having enough and who will possess the land.
Prayer: Lord, You are my delight more than anything else. Duty, ministry and response to the needs are my worship not obligations and pressure.
