ACCEPTABLE TO GOD
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. (Psalms 19:14 NKJV)
Have you felt edified and encouraged over words spoken to you? A chairman of the board came out after meeting felt guilty as he had spoken harshly and overreacted in the meeting. A member responded when he asked for feedback. You were passionate. Words spoken can either hurt or edify the hearer as well as the speaker himself. May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the LORD.
How can our words minister grace to the hearer? The answer lies in what's in our hearts that comes by what we meditate. (Proverbs22:11) Meditations are our inward thoughts continually revolving in our minds A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
The psalmist, in order to strengthen his faith in God, that he should be heard and answered in the petitions he put up, makes use of the following epithets:
First, His creation verses 1-6 that reminds him of God's infinite power and his finiteness. Second, His Law verses 7-11 that reminds him of God's love for him and his obedience. Finally, personal inclination verses 12- 14 that reminds him of his dependence on God as his Rock and Redeemer, Gods strength is like a mighty rock that rescues us and gives us a firm standing place. The Redeemer who had redeemed his life from destruction, and out of the hands of all his enemies, and from all his iniquities.
Prayer: Lord I will marvel at Your laws and meditate upon it as the means of my words be found acceptable.
