SOURCE OF MY COURAGE
Read Deuteronomy 31 Leadership Succession
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV)
The Israelites were about to enter the Promised Land. There would be threats from the heathens. Moses was not permitted to enter with the mistake he made. It was time for an appointment of Joshua as the new leader to lead them into the Promised Land. Going to a strange place, taking up new posts even meeting new people and any form of transitions will always create certain degree of apprehension and fear.
Moses charged Joshua who takes over to be strong and courageous. He is to be firm and bold. Subsequently in Joshua 1:6-9 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (II Timothy 1:7 NKJV)
This was not given without any basis. He followed on with three assurances:
God is the personal God. He knows those who are His. He had given the promise and ordained him to lead. He is Joshuas God. He is thus personally involved.
God will not fail. This is repeated in Deuteronomy 31:8, "And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.
God will never abandon. Knowing an all-powerful, all knowing and all present God we can exercise what God has given us in facing all uncertain future,
Prayer: Father God, I have no fear whatever lies ahead, for I know You are always with me and You cannot fail.
