NEVER ALONE
Read Hebrews 13 Christians Living
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may boldly say: The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Hebrews 13:5-6 NKJV)
Covetousness is the opposite of contentment. Our lifestyle in our pursuit for wealth, possession or even fame can be rooted out of a heart of greed. Often covetousness and greed are excused or even admired in todays culture, and are simply called ambition.
Contentment has much more to do with what we are on the inside than what we have. Someone asked millionaire Bernard Baruch, How much money does it take for a rich man to be satisfied? Baruch answered, Just a million more than he has. The Apostle Paul had the right idea in : Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Now godliness with contentment is great gain. (I Timothy
This promise from God in that He will never leave us is the foundation for contentment. He is the Creator and thus the Source to all our needs. There is no lack of necessity. Even as Jesus said Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Therefore do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? (Matthew
Quoting from of God as our Helper points to the truth that real contentment comes only when we trust in God to meet our needs and to be our security. It is our confidence not of self but God. Its a personal conviction out of personal knowledge of knowing who God is and that He has the final word and we need not fear man.
Prayer: Lord, I am confidence of all my needs are provided for throughout life even through to eternity. For Your presence is promised and never will You leave me. I declare this life I live is one of contentment and not fearing man.
